The Holiday Tournament is a huge community event we all look forward too! Melinda is a HUGE fan of our local sports team and keeps track of all the stats! The  inaugural tournament started in 1964 by the  late Gary Peyton, a longtime Lamar businessman and basketball official. In the early years only one team from our area would make it to the State Tournament. So that our community could enjoy more “Game time” the tournament. The format has not changed much and the community makes a big deal out of supporting the local players. Each team gets three games in the tournament. The Holiday Basketball tournament spans three days and  is known as a reunion for many players and fans in our community. Money raised from the tournament goes back to local schools. We look forward to having Lamar bustling with community members and basketball fans from all of the surrounding counties! It makes the city feel so festive and exciting and kicks off the Christmas Season!
